This weekend, I went to the emergency room. For those who know me, this can be a pretty normal thing for me. Besides having Parkinson’s disease, I was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 24, which lead me to 14 surgeries in three years. If you are asking “Why is this post titled ‘Silver lining’ because so far it sounds like baby poo lining”, just hang on its getting better!
After a bunch of tests and medical professionals peering down at me, they concluded I had a kidney stone and cyst the size of an orange. Wait, I promise it is getting better. So I was told to “rest and take it easy”, which I translated to mean, “watch a ‘Kim and Kourtney take Miami’ marathon (watching the Kardashians always make me feel better about my life), while eating obscene amounts of ice cream.” I think I am spot on.
I always try to find the silver lining to all the challenges I may face. I had to dig pretty deep for this one, but I think I came up with it! Once I pass my kidney stone, I can keep it and make it a necklace, then when people ask about the beautiful stone around my neck, I can tell them “I made it”! We can not change the struggles we face in life, but we can always make fun of it!

Allison, boy, you do take a lickin (doesn’t sound right) but keeps on tickin’
Praying for your comfort. Stones are the worst….I have a MRI today, finally, on my knee!!! I think the sports medicine doc was more interested in my PD than my leg! But all the better he said he wants to see me exercising with confidence! I sure wish Newport Beach was a bit closer to Ontario…rest and be well. do you have to have the cyst removed? Hope not! Lots of hugs, bonnie

You have great courage and shame me in my lack of. I was diagnosed in 1990 at 42 everything is difficult now but your blog is inspiring.

You have courage! If you didn’t you would not be even looking at a Parkinson’s blog. The very fact that you are at my site show that you have hope that things can get better. People that lack courage, give up even trying. Where do you live Jonno?
