I have never been lucky when it comes to my health. I always get the fuzzy end of the lollipop in life. As a little girl, practicing my gymnastics beam routine on railroad ties in my backyard, I get Creosote splinters all through the bottom of my feet. Goofing around in South Park, Colorado when I trip and sit down on a cactus. Swimming on a family summer vacation when I become home to a family of leeches. When I got my wisdom teeth removed, the medication given to me for nausea induced Anaphylaxis. When I start a new medication, I’m the one who will get the side effect that only .00025% of people get. So as it is the night before my Deep Brain Stimulation: The Sequel, you can imagine the nervous butterflies have turned into bats.
Fortunately, even though I might be a little apprehensive about the possible complications that could arise tomorrow during surgery, I know that I am not alone. I have the best wolfpack of friends and family who provide tons of love and support for my recovery. I will keep you all up to date on my progress.
*Thank you to my friend Marty, who created this great illustration of Perky Parkie’s brain. It is complete with red high heels and frozen yogurt! Be sure to check out his blog The Dopamine Chronicles.

Go to your ‘happy place’ in Le Fro-yo, France and get ready for good times when again, you don’t have to give much thought to DBS. We will compare bandage size (mine will be bigger) and remember to be strong like bull. Love you!
